Will Smith

Actor, musician. Born Willard Christopher Smith Jr., to mother Caroline, a school board employee, and father Willard C. Smith, the owner of a refrigeration company. His middle class upbringing saw him attend the strict—and Catholic—Overbrook High School, despite his family's observation of the Baptist faith.

Ozzy Osbourne

Musician. Born John Michael Osbourne on December 3, 1948, in Birmingham, England. Osbourne is best known as the lead singer of the tremendously popular hard-rock ensemble Black Sabbath. With Sabbath, Osbourne laid both the musical and aesthetic groundwork for the heavy-metal movement in modern rock and roll.

Jimi Hendrix

Guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Born Johnny Allen Hendrix (later changed to James Marshall) on November 27, 1942, in Seattle, Washington. Learning to play guitar as a teenager, Hendrix grew up to become a rock guitar legend. He had a difficult childhood, sometimes living in the care of relatives and even acquaintances at times.

The Rolling Stones

Musical group. Early members included Mick Jagger (born July 26, 1943, in Dartford, England), Brian Jones (born February 28, 1942, in Cheltenham, England), Keith Richards (born December 18, 1943, in Dartford, England), Bill Wyman (born October 24, 1936, in London), Ian Stewart (born July 18, 1938, in Pittenweem, Fife, Scotland) and Charlie Watts (born June 2, 1941, in London, England). Rising to fame in the mid-1960s, the Rolling Stones emerged as the bad boys of rock, and they continue to enjoy great popularity to this day.

Comedian. Eddie Murphy was born April 3, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York. He spent his early years in the projects of Bushwick with his father, Charles Murphy, a New York City police officer and amateur comedian, his mother, Lillian Murphy, a telephone operator, and his brother Charles. His parents divorced when he was three; five years later, his father died and his mother went into the hospital for an extended period.

Keith Richards

Musician, singer, songwriter. Born on December 18, 1943, in Dartford, England. Keith Richards is one of the driving forces behind the Rolling Stones, One early influence on the future rhythm guitarist was his grandfather, a musician and bandleader. Richards' mother, Doris, was also musical. Richards developed a passion for singing as a child, performing in choirs at school. Around the age of 10, he sang at the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953 as part of a choir.

Kurt Cobain

Singer. Born Kurt Donald Cobain on February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. A talented, troubled performer, Kurt Cobain became a rock legend with his band Nirvana in the 1990s. The son of an auto mechanic, he lived in Hoqiuam briefly before moving with his parents to nearby Aberdeen, Washington, a small logging town where he was born. There were several members of his mother’s family that had musical talents. His aunt Mari played the guitar and his uncle Chuck played in a band.

Carlos Santana

Guitarist. Born July 20, 1947, in Autlán de Navarro, Mexico. His father, Jose, was an accomplished professional violinist, and Carlos learned to play the guitar at age 8. In 1955, the family moved from Autlán de Navarro to Tijuana, the border city between Mexico and California. As a teenager, Santana began performing in Tijuana strip clubs, inspired by the American rock & roll and blues music of artists like B. B. King, Ray Charles, and Little Richard. In the early 1960s, Santana moved again with his family, this time to San Francisco, where his father hoped to find work.

Steven Tyler

Musician, singer, songwriter. Born Stephen Victor Tallarico on March 26, 1948, in Yonkers, New York. As the lead singer of Aerosmith, Steven Tyler is considered one of rock’s greatest showman. The son of a music teacher, he started playing drums, but then focused on singing.

Jon Bon Jovi

Musician, actor. Born John Francis Bongiovi Jr. on March 2, 1962 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Jon was raised by his parents, Carol and John Bongiovi, a hairdresser. By his early teens, he was hanging out at local clubs, convinced that one day he would be a rock star. Idolizing local rising stars such as Bruce Springsteen and the Asbury Jukes, Jon was playing in clubs by the time he was 16. He met keyboardist David Bryan in high school, and the two formed a ten-piece rhythm and blues band called Atlantic City Expressway. Jon also performed with bands called The Rest, The Lechers and John Bongiovi and the Wild Ones.Jon gave David a call, who in turn tapped Alec John Such, Tico Torres and guitarist Richie Samborra. During a show in New York in 1983, the band caught the attention of record exececutive Derek Shulman, who signed them to PolyGram. It was Shulman who anglicized John Bongiovi's name to Bon Jovi

Musical group. Original members include Michael “Flea” Balzary (born October 16, 1962, in Melbourne, Australia), Anthony Kiedis (born November 1, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan), Hillel Slovak (born April 13, 1962, in Haifa, Israel), and Jack Irons (born July 18, 1962, in Los Angeles, California). Known for their funk-flavored alternative rock and wild stage antics, the Red Hot Chili Peppers became one of the hottest acts of the 1990s.

Mötley Crüe

Rock group. Original members include Tommy Lee (born October 3, 1962, in Athens, Greece), Nikki Sixx (bornDecember 11, 1958, in San Jose, California), Mick Mars (born April 3, 1956, in Huntington, Indiana), and Vince Neil (born c.1961 in Hollywood, California). One of top rock acts of the 1980s, Mötley Crüe became famous for their over-the-top live shows and hard-partying ways. The group was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles. Drummer Tommy Lee (originally Tommy Lee Bass) and bassist Nikki Sixx started out calling themselves Christmas. They found Mick Mars through a classified ad that read: “Loud Rude Aggressive Guitarist Available.” Soon after, the trio became a quartet with the addition of vocalist Vince Neil.

Metallica

Musical group. members include James Hetfield (born August 3, 1963, in Los Angeles, California), Lars Ulrich (born December 26, 1963, in Gentofte, Denmark), Cliff Burton (born February 10, 1962, in Castro Valley, Californiad), and Dave Mustaine (born September 1, 1961, in La Mesa, California). One of heavy metal's top bands of all time, Metallica helped revitalize the genre during the 1980s. The band has achieved critical and commercial success during their nearly 30 years in rock, but not without overcoming many obstacles and challenges.

Freddie Mercury

Singer, songwriter, musician. Born Farookh Bulsara on September 5, 1946, in Zanzibar, Tanzania. As the frontman of Queen, Freddie Mercury was one of the most talented and innovative singers of the rock era. He spent time in a boarding school in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, where he studied piano. It was not long before this charismatic young man joined his first band, the Hectics. Moving to London with his family in the 1960s, Mercury attended the Ealing College of Art. He befriended a number of musicians around this time, including future bandmates, drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May. In 1969, Mercury joined up with a group called Ibex as their lead singer. He played with a few other bands before joining forces with Taylor and May. They met up with bassist John Deacon in 1971, and the quartet—who Mercury dubbed Queen—played their first gig together that June.

Bret Michael

Singer, songwriter, actor, television personality. Born Bret Michael Sychak on March 15, 1963, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (some sources say Butler, Pennsylvania). Usually seen wearing his trademark bandanas and cowboy hats, Bret Michaels became a rock icon as the frontman of Poison, one of the biggest hair metal bands of the 1980s. He has also recently become a reality television star with Rock of Love and Rock of Love 2. While pursuing his dreams, Michaels has wrestled with a chronic disease. At the age of 6, Michaels was diagnosed with diabetes. Throughout his career, he has taken insulin and measured his blood sugar levels to manage his illness.

Aerosmith

Aerosmith began on the East Coast. Tyler formed his first band, The Strangeurs, later changing the band's name to Chain Reaction. In 1966, Tyler recorded two singles with Chain Reaction. Meanwhile, Perry and future Aerosmith bass guitarist Hamilton formed a combo, Pipe Dream (later Jam Band), also in Sunapee.In 1970, Perry, Tyler, and Hamilton (whose family also vacationed in Sunapee), formed Aerosmith, with Perry on guitar, Tyler on vocals, and Hamilton on bass guitar. In 1971, the trio recruited rhythm guitar player Brad Whitford and drummer Joey Kramer and began playing in the Boston area. The band cultivated a young audience following their first successful appearance at Nipmuc Regional High School in Mendon, Massachusetts.

Guns N 'Roses is one the hard rock band , born in los angeles in march 1985, was composed axel rose (singer), Slash and Izzy Stradlin (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass) and Steven Adler (drums) steven forced to resign because of the drug.
